Hearing the birds singing in the early morning hours reminds me of the old "Medallion" treasure hunts. It's that time of year again! I am finally ready. This has been a lot of work, and a lot of fun. [&](Meg agrees) I'll provide the rules for the hunts in a separate post. There were a lot of decisions to make while planning these 10 treasure hunts and I learned that being flexible helps. That is why I now call it +/- 10 treasure hunts. In case one of them disappears, or becomes ineligible, or you can't find one of them
or you find more than 10.
I have some flexibility regarding how I present the clues, which can affect the length of the hunts. I plan on "playing it by ear". How long it takes you to find the first one, how much interest/participation there is, etc.
Since this is a new process I am open to suggestions as we go. I consulted some of the more active hunters about the rules while writing them and received some great suggestions. Thank you! I appreciate it.
Some of you may be wondering what you'll be looking for.
I plan to post pictures of some of the "treasures" on the Yahoo website to give you an idea. You will have to figure out what you are looking for in each hunt though.
Don't delay registering for the hunts. I will begin posting clues once I have 25 registrants, or on June 6th, 7th, 8th?
I am contributing up to $250 to the "pot" to make sure that the prizes are worthwhile. If there are 25 participants, and ten treasures found, each one will be worth $50. That's nearly a tank of gas these days!!
I appreciate all the fun that I've had and the wonderful friendships I've made while treasure hunting over the last 22 years, and it is my pleasure to contribute to the addiction... uh, I mean cause.
I'm open to feedback and questions. Everyone remember to be safe while hunting and have a blast!
